Finally, the third essay ascertains whether incarceration adversely impacts one's marriage market opportunities. By focusing on latent demands and expectations for marriage, and comparing never-incarcerated criminals to ever-incarcerated criminals, I am able to net out the effect of incarceration on one's odds of marriage. I do not find evidence that incarceration lowers one's chances of marriage.
